Born in 1951, it would be several years before I would take my first photo.
I first got serious about photography in the early 70s, when I did a lot of street photography in Chicago, and in my church in Columbus, Ohio. I had a Nikormat with a F1.4 50mm lens.
Financial issues kept me from shooting much for many years, until, in 2003, I bought a Canon D60, and two Canon 550EX flashes, and a 100mm macro lens, a great lens for hummingbirds. I soon bought a 28-70 Canon lens for landscapes, and a 100-400mm Canon t5.6 for wildlife. (Not very sharp at all, unfortunately...)
I've had the best results since 2003 with hummingbirds, and am beginning, after a long learning curve, beginning to achieve real satisfaction with my landscape photography.
